Pioneer Citizen Has Passed Away Albert Pegg, an Associate of Chauncey Rose, Dies After Long Illness Albert B. Pegg, one of the oldest residents of Vigo County and a man well known in political circles in former days, died at St. Anthony's hospital last night. He had been at the hospital only three days, but has been ill for a long time, growing temporarily better now and then but gradually becoming weaker. Mr. Pegg was born in Guilford county N.C. in 1821, his mother dying when he was but two weeks old, and his father six years later. He came to Indiana when he was ten years old with his uncle, Nathan Merideth, and lived all his life on a farm, although for a while he worked at the cooper trade. Mr. Pegg came to Vigo county in 1837. Five years after coming to this county he was married to Miss Eva Brown, who is dead, and he then maried the second time. He celebrated his eighty-third birthday last week as his home on Fruitridge avenue, about two miles south of the National road, and a large crown of his friends and relatives visited him. His residence was built about forty years ago, and is one of the land marks of the county. Mr. Pegg was actively engaged in charity work, and has been a member of the board of the Rose Orphan's home for a number of years. He was an intimate friend of Chauncey Rose, and worked with him in the furtherance of many of his projects. He was a member of the Sugar Grove M. E. church and was one of its most active workers. During his political life many years ago, Mr. Pegg held the offices of county commissioner, real estate appraiser and a trustee of Lost Creek township. The funeral will be held from the residence, but the hour has not yet been announced.
