Title	Bob-O-Link (Binkley) Victory mine, Seelyville, Indiana
Description	Black and white photocopy of a newspaper photograph of the Bob-O-Link (Binkley) coal mine. The 1935 strip mine opened south of Seelyville called Bob-O-Link, and everyday as Binkley Mine. The mine operated until 1942 as the Pyramid Coal Company. The steel and concrete tipple was electrically operated. The coal was delivered by a 1,600 feet long conveyor belt that was one inch thick and four feet wide to shaker screens that made seven different sizes of coal. The mine tapped a seven foot vein of No. 3 bituminous coal, and the company owned land underlain with enough coal to keep the company in business for an estimated fifty years. The mine was served by the Pennsylvania Railroad, which built a nine-track yard to the mine, and which had seven tracks under the tipple where the coal was loaded. There was also a wash house which could accommodate 400 miners on two shifts, a weigh house, and a railway station. There were two boiler houses: one furnished steam to heat the bath house and showers, and the other built into the tipple to dry the coal in the winter months. In addition to shipping by rail, there was a truck road that residents of Lost Creek and surrounding areas could use to pick up coal for personal or commercial use. The mine included a laboratory for testing the coal, a pump house, a machine shop and various smaller buildings. When in full operation, the mine employed more than 400 miners from locations such as Terre Haute, Brazil, Staunton, Seelyville, Sullivan, Clay City, Jasonville, Linton, and Clinton. Victory Mine operated until the mid-1950s, after which the land went unused for several years until purchased by LaVern Gibson who opened a land-fill dump that closed in the mid-1980s. It is now the location of the Wabash Valley Family Center (Bird/Gibson).
Transcription	Arising from the prarie to a height of nearly 100 feet is the huge steel and concrete tippl of the Binkley Mining Co.'s new Victory mine near Seelyville. In the right center of the picture can be seen the covering for the big conveyor belt which carries the coal from the workings to the tipple. The conveyor enters the ground a short distance to the right of the picture.
