Description |
Barbara McPherson's transcribed interview of James McPherson about Lovers' Leap. According to McPherson, an Indian chief's daughter loved a warrior from another tribe. They met in secret, but one day someone saw them and told the chief about their meetings. The chief went to where the lovers were and shouted a warning then shot an arrow. His daughter turned around and was shot right in the heart. Her lover grabbed her and jumped off the cliff. The chief built them a pyre on the cliff and it has been known as Lovers' Leap ever since. |
