Abstract	Copy of letter to Estie Bowers, 11/07/1920. Says that he has known Eugene V. Debs for the past 30 years. Writes that Cyrus Field Willard did not convert Eugene V. Debs to socialism. Tells Bowers that Eugene V. Debs was converted to socialism by the "pressure of economic conditions." Writes that although Victor Berger helped with Eugene V. Debs's conversion he was not responsible for his conversion either. Says that Cyrus Field Willard did not become a socialist until after Eugene V. Debs did. Remarks that he knows this from working with Cyrus Field Willard on the Social Democracy of America's Colonization Commission. Tells Bowers that Cyrus Field Willard was a Theosophist. Says that his Theosophism caused his separation from the colony movement.
