Abstract	Press Release titled "Statement by Tom Mooney" 2/3/1939. Writes that the story in the SAN FRANCISCO EXAMINER saying that Tom Mooney wants a divorce from his wife is "an inspired story deliberately studied an calculated to defeat" his work. Remarks that the SAN FRANCISCO EXAMINER is the same paper that was responsible for the "campaign of false and vicious propaganda which was a major factor in sending me to a living death for almost a quarter of a century." Explains that he has been working night and day since his release for the immediate liberation of one of his co-defendants, Warren Billings. Remarks that the "reactionary influences" against the Tom Mooney Molders Defense Committee have tapped the committee's telephone wire and are listening in on all conversations. Says that he realized that his telephone line had been tampered with when he was one the phone with Dick Sellers of the Chicago, Illinois CIO Newspaper Guild discussing that union's strike against the Hearst publications. Writes that he has a great deal of sympathy for Rena Mooney. Asserts that he and Rena Mooney's relationship has been incompatible for the past 16 years. Asks that the public withhold its judgment regarding the question of divorce until after Warren Billings is released from prison. Says that Ernest Lenn, a reporter for the SAN FRANCISCO EXAMINER, told Rena Mooney he was a federal agent and threatened that she would lose her job with the Federal Music Project if she did not answer his questions.
