Abstract |
Letter to Theodore Debs, 5/30/1926. Writes that although he received Theodore Debs's letter stating that there is nothing left for him to do to get Eugene V. Debs's civil rights restored, he has thought of one more thing. Tells Theodore Debs that he would like to donate money for a fund for Eugene V. Debs to fight for his rights in court. Informs Theodore Debs that he would like to give $50 for such a purpose. Remarks that Sophie Braslau, who was once a Metropolitan Opera star, spent a few days with him and his family. Says that Sophie Braslau saw a copy of LABOR AND FREEDOM, a compilation of Eugene V. Debs's "miscellany" on the shelf and explained that her father was a great admirer of Eugene V. Debs's. Tells Theodore Debs that Sophie Braslau would be glad to sing for Eugene V. Debs if ever the opportunity arose. Mentions that he gave Sophie Braslau his copy of LABOR AND FREEDOM and a copy of David Karsner's TALKS WITH DEBS IN TERRE HAUTE. |
