Abstract	Letter to Eugene V. Debs on Socialist Party Young People's Department letterhead, 10/31/18. Says that he is writing to send Eugene V. Debs congratulations on his birthday. Tells Eugene V. Debs that the Douglas Park Jewish Branch of the Socialist Party is sending Eugene V. Debs; a silver plated coffee service. Asks that Eugene V. Debs write a message of greeting for the YOUNG SOCIALIST MAGAZINE. Says that it should be tame enough so that it could pass through the mails. Expresses the hope if he or Eugene V. Debs end up in prison that they get out in time to see a "free American working class take its place besides its comrades from the rest of the world."

Notes	The Young Socialists' Magazine, which originally started in 1911, began as a publication of the New Yorker Volkszeitung, an independent New York socialist group, and eventually became the official organ of the Young People's Socialist League movement. The Young Peoples' Socialist League was a socialist movement for young people which started in 1907 and was affiliated with the Socialist Party of the United States of America. Bill Kruse was its Secretary until 1921, when he left the Socialist party to become part of the Communist movement.
