Notes |
The Jewish Daily Forward was a New York-based Yiddish language daily that was loosely affiliated with the Socialist Party of the United States of America. Edited by Abraham Cahan, it launched in 1897 and reached its peak circulation in the 1930's of 275,000. It became known as the voice of the Jewish immigrant and the conscience of the ghetto. Well known Jewish authors such as Isaac Bashevis Singer regularly contributed to the paper, which still exists today and is available in an online format. |
