Abstract |
Letter to Eugene V. Debs, 8/25/1916. Says that he thinks that this is "America's critical year." Writes that if socialism does not make a good showing in 1916 that a period of "semi-slavery" will be the result only to end with a "physical revolution." Tells Eugene V. Debs that he is doing his best to tell the people that mandatory military service is coming if they do not turn to socialism. Says that he is sorry that he will not be able to take part in Eugene V. Debs's campaign but that he cannot be spared. |
