Abstract |
Copy of letter from Eugene V. Debs, 06/03/1926. Writes that there is some disagreement as to the status of his citizenship since his release from prison. Says that although he was informed that his right to vote was forfeited when he was released from prison, a respected lawyer told him that because there was no mention of it in his conviction that his right to vote remained intact. Remarks that in the meantime the issue of his citizenship was brought up in Congress whose members decided that his right to vote had never been forfeited. Asks that Westengaver tell him whether or not his conviction resulted in the forfeiture of his citizenship rights or not. |
