Abstract |
Letter to Marguerite Debs Cooper, 11/18/1947. Writes that his wife, Jean Stone, has been ill in bed for the past few days. Says that the only thing that distresses him about the rumor that he farms out his writing is that it distresses Cooper. Remarks that such rumors are typical about anyone who "sticks his head above the parapet." Mentions that he suspects that the reason people do not believe that he writes all of his own works is that he has written so many of them that are of a difficult nature. Tells Cooper that ADVERSARY IN THE HOUSE is selling better every week. Assures Cooper that ADVERSARY IN THE HOUSE is winning him, the labor movement, and socialism many new friends. |
