Letter to Gertrude Debs and Marguerite Debs Cooper, 04/11/1947. Says that he has finished his book about Eugene V. Debs. Writes that the title of the book will be ADVERSARY IN THE HOUSE. Mentions that the book will be the fall leader for Doubleday. Expresses the hope that the book is worthy of the subject. Assures Gertrude Debs and Marguerite Debs Cooper that Eugene V. Debs' and Theodore Debs' relationship emerges in all of its greatness in the book. Asks that Gertrude Debs and Marguerite Debs Cooper forgive him for parts of the book which may not have been as successful. Says that he is packing up Eugene V. Debs' papers. Mentions that he hopes to visit Terre Haute, Indiana when he goes east in a few weeks. |
