Abstract |
Letter to Eugene V. Debs on James-Heddon's Sons letterhead, 03/18/1918. Says that it was with "profound sorrow and indignation" that he read about the "foul conviction" of Kate Richards O'Hare. Writes that he is enclosing for Eugene V. Debs money for a one year's subscription to the SOCIAL REVOLUTION and a donation to Kate Richards O'Hare defense fund. Assures Eugene V. Debs that the "ruling class--the damned skunks of society" will pay for Kate Richards O'Hare's conviction. Remarks that the imprisonment of Kate Richards O'Hare appears "as if the slave holders of the world have fired on Fort Sumter, and just as truly as the chattel slavers of the 60's, when firing the first shot at Fort Sumter of those days, dug their own graves, so the wage slavers of today are digging theirs." |
