Abstract	Letter to the Officers and Members of the International Molders' Union of North America on Tom Mooney Molders Defense Committee letterhead, 12/23/1916. Writes that C. M. Fickert, the District Attorney prosecuting his case, has become the laughing stock of San Francisco, California for using witnesses from the dives of the underworld who blatantly perjured themselves on the stand. Says that one "negro convict" confessed that he was "promised money and liberty to swear to a ridiculous story" in which he gave the convict $500 to blow up the Liberty Bell. Remarks that W. Bourke Cockran, the "famous New York attorney and orator conspicuous in National Life" has agreed to defend himself and his co-defendants. Explains that W. Bourke Cockran came to handle the case after concluding that Warren K. Billings' conviction, based on the "evidence of hired criminals and prostitutes" was "one of the most outrageous miscarriages of justice he had ever seen." Mentions that Frank P. Walsh has also agreed to aid in their defense. Writes that George West has publicly declared that the police apprehended the wrong people. Mentions that the United Press Service is sending 2 men to cover the trial. Remarks that the United Hebrew Trades are organizing a conference to devise ways of aiding in their defense. Says that the International Association of Machinists is raising funds for co-defendant Edward Nolan. Asks that the officers and members of the International Molders' Union adopt resolutions to support himself and his co-defendants. Also asks that the individual locals of the International Molders' Union purchase copies of the pamphlet, "The Frame-Up System" written by Bob Manor and published by the International Workers' Defense League, for each of its members. Mentions that he will be sending each International Molders' Union representative a copy of the weekly paper, the TRI-CITY LABOR REVIEW, because it provides the most information about his and his co-defendants' case. Writes that he is enclosing a picture of himself and his wife on the roof of their home "AT EXACTLY THE MOMENT WHEN THE STATE'S EYE WITNESS, A DRUG FIEND, SWORE THAT BILLINGS AND I WERE AT THE SCENE OF THE CRIME, A MILE AND A QUARTER AWAY." Mentions that the street clock located in the original photograph shows the time that photo was taken. Assures the officers and members of the International Molder's Union that he is innocent of the crime he is charged with.
