Abstract	Letter to Eugene V. Debs, 10/16/1915. Writes that he received a copy of Eugene V. Debs's tribute to Eugene Field, Bill Nye, and James Whitcomb Riley. Says that when he made a trip to the Pacific Coast over the summer that he passed where Bill Nye's office used to be and saw that his name was still painted on the window. Assures Eugene V. Debs that people like Eugene Field, Bill Nye, and James Whitcomb Riley help to make life livable. Mentions that he also received a pamphlet honoring Eugene V. Debs. Tells Eugene V. Debs that he would rather see him become a martyr than falter in his faith. Says that Eugene V. Debs is greater than Eugene Field, Bill Nye, and James Whitcomb Riley because he has trod an unpopular path. Writes that since the two terms he served in Congress he has returned to his law practice in Pueblo, Colorado. Mentions that he made a speech after the Ludlow Massacre that had wider circulation than anything he ever said in Congress. Says that the people of Colorado like to use tax money to help employers win strikes.
