Abstract	Letter to Eugene V. Debs, 4/1/1917. Writes that it was thoughtful for Eugene V. Debs to send a copy of the NEW YORK TIMES issue with the article about him in it. Assures Eugene V. Debs that in time he favors definite action. Says that he has a like interest in what happened in Everett, Washington where 5 workers were shot and 74 others are on trial "in pursuance of an orderly purpose." Remarks that Eugene V. Debs's aloofness to the Industrial Workers of the World puzzles him. Assures Eugene V. Debs that the Industrial Workers of the World's struggles are justified. Says that he wonders why Eugene V. Debs stays away from the Industrial Workers of the World and the movement which so much needs him. Remarks that history is being cheated by Eugene V. Debs not leading the "Revolution's physical phenomena."
