Abstract	Letter to Eugene V. Debs on Central Labor Bodies Conference for Amnesty for Political Prisoners letterhead, 10/19/1920. Informs Eugene V. Debs that Guy Powers' case looks bad. Says that the woman was shot three times, proving the shooting was not an accident. Writes that she has received some encouraging news regarding amnesty. Says that she thinks it is a crime that so many untrue statements are made in Eugene V. Debs's name, especially the statement "beware of your leaders." Remarks that she thinks that the reason why socialists fail to convert the masses is that they antagonize the men that represent the masses. Writes that Samuel Gompers often gets questioned as to why he supports the release of Eugene V. Debs when Eugene V. Debs "slams" him in every direction. Tells Eugene V. Debs that Samuel Gompers always responds to this question with the answer that he and Eugene V. Debs had been friends in their youth and even with their differences of opinion that Eugene V. Debs is entitled to his freedom. Mentions that although she enjoys her visits with Eugene V. Debs even if they are in a prison.
