Abstract	Letter to Theodore Debs on Rand School of Social Science letterhead, 2/15/1945. Says that he wants to know if it is true if Eugene V. Debs ever approached John D. Rockefeller in the late 1890s in hope of "awakening his conscience to the wickedness of capitalistic society and prompting him to use his great influence and power for the betterment of the world instead of for piling up wealth." Mentions that it would have been characteristic of Eugene V. Debs to attempt such an appeal. Writes that Robert Owen and Charles Fourier tried to do something similar in the early nineteenth century. Mentions that he wrote to James Oneal but that he could not recall the details of Eugene V. Debs’ action. Asks that Theodore Debs tell him what happened between Eugene V. Debs and Rockefeller.
