Appeal
was an
official
publication
of the
Socialist
Party
of
America
, and was
produced
weekly
in
New
York
City
from
1926
until
1927
,
when
it
merged
into The
New
Leader
. The
New
Leader
continued
on in
print
until
2007
,
when
it
became
an
exclusively
online
publication
. The
Jewish
Daily
Forward
was a
New
York-based
Yiddish
language
daily
that was
loosely
affiliated
with the
Socialist
Party
of the
United
States
of
America
.
Edited
by
Abraham
Cahan
,
it
launched
in
1897
and
reached
its
peak
circulation
in the
1930's
of
275,000
.
It
became
known
as the
voice
of the
Jewish
immigrant
and the
conscience
of the
ghetto
.
Well
known
Jewish
authors
such
as
Isaac
Bashevis
Singer
regularly
contributed
to the
paper
,
which
still
exists
today
and
is
available
in an
online
format
.
