Abstract	Letter from Theodore Debs, 9/19/27. Assures Henry that he appreciates the fact that he has been sent the first copy of WALLS AND BARS. Writes that he cannot allow Henry to print Walter Hurt's letter to him without the consent of Hurt. Says that he agrees with Henry's position that the Socialist Party must get itself out of debt. Also says that Henry's impression of the AMERICAN APPEAL is correct and that something needs to be done to make the newspaper more interesting. Informs Henry that the Socialist Party is in need of more young people who will not become members of the party if the AMERICAN APPEAL continues publishing its "long, heavy scientific articles."

Notes	American Appeal was an official publication of the Socialist Party of America, and was produced weekly in New York City from 1926 until 1927, when it merged into The New Leader. The New Leader continued on in print until 2007, when it became an exclusively online publication.
