Abstract	Letter to Eugene V. Debs on APPEAL TO REASON letterhead, n.d. Tells Eugene V. Debs that he is now a "private citizen." Says that he does not want Eugene V. Debs to have any ill-feelings towards him whatsoever. Writes that he was always thinking of Eugene V. Debs' best interest when he worked for the APPEAL TO REASON. Assures Eugene V. Debs that he always appreciated his years of loyal service. Remarks that although he will be accused of abandoning the APPEAL TO REASON he needed a vacation from the paper. Writes that J. A. Wayland's sons were anxious for him to leave the APPEAL TO REASON anyway. Says that he had always hoped that the Socialist Party would take over the APPEAL TO REASON. Tells Eugene V. Debs that his only plans now are to spend some time with his wife and children. Remarks that because of investments he made in some oil fields in Oklahoma and Kansas he is financially independent. Mentions that he plans on doing some kind of work on behalf of the cooperative commonwealth but that he does not know what form it will take.
