Abstract	Letter to Marguerite Debs Cooper, 12/08/1947. Writes that he is sending Cooper 3 letters about the idea of a memorial fund to purchase Eugene V. Debs' house. Says that although the one from the Indiana Historical Society is not too friendly, the other 2 are friendly enough. Remarks that Victor Reisel still has not run an item in his column asking for money to buy Eugene V. Debs' house as a memorial. Mentions that the Socialist Party of New York is still immersed in its financial difficulties, fighting its own battle trying to sustain the NEW YORK CALL. Tells Cooper that because of the confusion and social unrest in the movie industry that it does not look like he will be able to sell the movie rights to ADVERSARY IN THE HOUSE. Assures Cooper that he has not given up; he is just looking for a new approach. Mentions that he is starting his next book about an American painter. Writes that although ADVERSARY IN THE HOUSE is not competing well against CAME A CAVALIER, EAST SIDE, WEST SIDE, and NOTHING SO STRANGE that it is still selling steadily.
