Abstract	Copy of letter from Marguerite Debs Cooper, 09/08/1947. Writes that she and Gertrude Debs enjoyed Stone's appearance on TOWN MEETING OF THE AIR. Says that it was thoughtful of Stone to send her a copy of ADVERSARY IN THE HOUSE so quickly. Assures Stone that the book is "beautifully written" and the portrayal of Eugene V. Debs and Theodore Debs' relationship is "superbly done." Writes that she and Gertrude Debs did not like some things about the book. Informs Stone that his book would not have met Theodore Debs' complete approval. Says that she did not understand why Stone had to make such a big issue out of Eugene V. Debs' drinking, especially since Eugene V. Debs drank so rarely. Writes that it was wrong to compare Eugene V. Debs' drunkeness at one point in the book to that of Katherine Debs' brother. Tells Stone that Theodore Debs refused to endorse McAlister Coleman's book because it, like Stone's, discussed Eugene V. Debs' drinking. Remarks that Theodore Debs would have been hurt by this characterization of Eugene V. Debs. Informs Stone that she received a copy of PM. Says that she resented the writer of the article about Eugene V. Debs for calling the home that he was born in a shack. Mentions that although the article suggested that Celia Rotter is a member of the Debs family she is not. Remarks that she will not interfere with the sale of Stone's book or prevent its success.
