Digital Initiative and Nearby History Institute
July 18-19, 2006

The Digital Initiatives and Nearby History Institute is an outreach program initiated by the Wabash Valley Visions & Voices Digital Memory Project. The goal is to provide professional development programs at a modest cost for members of the "Visions Project," as well as other interested individuals involved in libraries, museums and historical societies. The public is also welcome to attend.

Institute presenters are drawn from the participants in the Wabash Valley Visions & Voices Digital Memory Project and other experts in the field. The two day Institute is divided into technical and special topic tracks, but registrants may attend sessions in either series on one or both days. All participants have the opportunity to visit the Nearby History sites and partake in special events.

The inaugural Digital Initiatives & Nearby History Institute took place on July 18 and 19, 2006 at the Indiana State University Library with visits to the Eugene V. Debs Museum and the Sisters of Providence at St. Mary-of-the-Woods. Guest appearances by Madame Edith Brown (video) and the Blessed Mother Theodore (video) enlivened the proceedings. Please enjoy the collage of images depicting people and scenes photographed and recorded during the Institute. We look forward to seeing you in 2007.
